Welcome to Reflection Rooms. This access statement provides important information about the accessibility of our facilities and services for people with disabilities or limited mobility.

Arrival and Approach

Entrance and Access Points

  • Main Entrance: The main entrance is accessible via a push open door with a width of 840mm. The threshold height is 60mm.

Internal Layout

  • Reception: The reception area is wide enough to accommodate mobility aids and wheelchairs.

  • Corridors and Hallways: The corridors and hallways are not wide enough for a wheelchair.

  • Restricted head heights: There are restricted head heights in the following locations:

  1. Door way to Matcha room – 1.72m

  2. Beams in Matcha room – 1.87m, 1.83m, 1.86m respectively from left to right as you enter the room

  3. Mezzanine floor – 1.78m gap

  • Rooms: There is a ground floor room, Chai, that is accessible via a push open door which is 800mm wide, there is no threshold to this room. It is approximately 14 paces from the entrance of the building to this room.

  • Stairs: There are many stairs in this building.

  1. From the ground floor to the first-floor landing there are 12 stairs. The stairs at this level have a handrail on both sides.

  2. There are approximately 10 paces to an additional 2 stairs with no handrail, then 3 paces and 1 stair with no handrail to reach the 1st floor and Assam room.

  3. There are three paces and 9 stairs with a handrail on one side to Camomile room from the 1st floor entry point by Assam.

  4. To get to Darjeeling & Oolong rooms you must go to the first floor, then climb an additional 18 stairs. There is a handrail on one side.

  5. To get to Matcha room you must climb from the 2nd to the 3rd floor. This is 16 stairs. There is a handrail on one side.

Facilities and Amenities

  • Toilets: The toilet facilities are located on the ground floor. It is approximately 23 paces from the front door to reach them, and there is a step of 75mm to access them with no handrail. They are not suitable for people who are wheel chairs users and cannot use mobility aids.

  • Seating: There is space for wheelchair positioning in both reception and in Chai room, but it must be noted the width of the door into Chai is 800mm.

Additional Services

  • Assistance Dogs: We welcome assistance dogs to Reflection Rooms. Please advise us in advance if you are bringing an assistance dog so we can prepare a dog bowl with water.
